Jumeirah Area Guide

View Jumeirah Property

Jumeirah literally means "beautiful." It is a coastal residential area in Dubai, United Arab Emirates mainly comprising low rise private dwellings. It is administratively divided into three neighborhoods titled "Jumeirah 1," Jumeirah 2" and "Jumeirah 3." It has both expensive and large detached properties as well as more modest town houses built in a variety of architectural styles. The area is popular with expatriates working in the emirate and is familiar to many tourists visiting Dubai.

The huge expansion of the emirate of Dubai since the late 1990s has seen a growth in housing developments across Dubai, with Jumeirah growing into an area populated by wealthier expats and luxury hotels. Jumeirah is now generally agreed to be one of the most exclusive parts of Dubai and this has led to the use of the Jumeirah name as a brand which signifies exclusivity.

Jumeirah is the district occupying the prime belt of coast-line, stretching southwards from the area of Port Rashid, in the centre of Dubai.

Only half a century ago, Jumeirah was a fishing village set several miles outside of Dubai. Today it is one of the most high profile areas of the city. The residents often refer to it, tongue in cheek, as the Beverly Hills of Dubai!

Jumeirah developed southwards from Satwa's borders, and the oldest part, known as Jumeirah 1, remains one of the most desirable addresses in Dubai. It is here that the first chic malls and coffee shops grew up and it is still a popular choice today for residents in search of a latte or manicure in classy surroundings.

At this end of the Jumeirah Beach Road, is the Jumeirah Mosque, one of the city's most picturesque mosques. It welcomes non-Muslims.

Mercato Mall on Jumeirah Beach Road boasts Dubai's most fashionable clientele.

Jumeirah is the most glamorous and hedonistic part of the city. It's no surprise that residential property in Jumeirah is pricey.....it's the ultimate location for a villa in the sun and its quiet leafy streets are filled with bougainvillea-clad luxury villas.

It is in Jumeirah that Dubai's most luxurious, extravagant resort hotels are to be found. These luxury hotels include the iconic, sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, which is regarded as the only 7-star hotel in the world.

There are 5 star hotels galore! They include the unusual wave-shaped Jumeirah Beach Hotel; the Arabian-styled one and only Royal Mirage and the vast Madinat Jumeirah, plus a string of others, stretching out along this all important sandy coastal strip of the Arabian Gulf, known as Jumeirah Beach.

Behind the hotels at the southern end of Jumeirah, is the lovely Dubai Marina, with its alfresco cafes and restaurants. This is the largest marina in the world. Colourful Marina Markets, selling local crafts, are held here on Fridays.

Out at sea, beyond Jumeirah, is the famous, spectacular Palm Jumeirah Island, whose villa topped fronds have extended the coastline by 120 kilometres. The uniquely designed Trump International Hotel and Tower is being built on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah. Here is yet another architectural icon.

The Jumeirah area is excellent for shopping, leisure and enjoying beachlife in general, whether you choose to relax on your hotel beach or on any of the public beaches nearby, such as Umm Suquiem, Kite Beach or Russian Beach.

The lovely Jumeirah Beach Park alongside the Jumeirah Road ,is also a delightful spot to enjoy the sun.

Near the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah, is the Wild Wadi Water Park, very popular with adults and children alike. A fun place to enjoy in relaxing cool water on a hot tropical day!!

Just inland of this, off Sheikh Zayed Road is the huge shopping mall, the Mall of the Emirates and the snowy ski slopes of Ski Dubai, built inside a snow dome.

About three miles off-shore from Jumeirah, the most spectacular construction of them all is being built. This is "The World", a huge group of islands constructed from dredged sand and shaped like a map of the world.

The huge expansion of the emirate of Dubai since the late 1990s has seen a growth in housing developments across Dubai, with Jumeirah growing into an area populated by wealthier expats and luxury hotels. Jumeirah is now generally agreed to be one of the most exclusive parts of Dubai and this has led to the use of the Jumeirah name as a brand which signifies exclusivity
