Jumeirah literally means "beautiful." It is a coastal residential area of low rise private dwellings. Divided into three neighborhoods Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3 , it has both expensive large detached properties and more modest town houses built in a variety of architectural styles. The area is popular with working ex-pats and tourists visiting Dubai. Jumeirah has developed into an area populated by wealthier expats and luxury hotels and is considered to be one of the most exclusive parts of Dubai and this has led to the use of the Jumeirah name as a brand which signifies exclusivity. Only half a century ago, Jumeirah was a fishing village several miles outside Dubai. Today it is one of the most high profile areas of the city. The residents refer to it as the Beverly Hills of Dubai! The oldest part Jumeirah 1 is one of the most desirable addresses in Dubai. Here the first chic malls and coffee shops grew up and it is still a popular choice for a latte or manicure in classy surroundings. At this end of Jumeirah Beach Road, is the Jumeirah Mosque, one of the city's most picturesque mosques. Jumeirah is the most glamorous and hedonistic part of the city. It's no surprise that residential property in Jumeirah is pricey.....it's the ultimate location for a villa in the sun and its quiet leafy streets are filled with bougain villea-clad luxury villas.
